7 - Affordable and Clean Energy
Innovation in sustainable, clean and affordable energy is one of the most visible topics where positive impacts are reported in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. However, according to the International Energy Agency's Tracking Clean Energy Progress (TCEP) most clean energy technologies are not in track to meet the objectives of the Paris Agreement. Among other enabling conditions, a better understanding on how to use effective innovation ecosystems could benefit a faster and timely innovation upscaling and deployment.
Notwithstanding, a great effort is visible worldwide with community and city level projects using affordable and clean energy innovation as a key component of a low carbon and more sustainable energy matrix. Examples of innovation in business models, for instance, in renewable energy cooperatives, have also caught the attention of investors, governments and the general public.
In this module you find examples of reports, cases, videos and other
materials that illustrate the contribution of innovation for SDG7 Affordable and Clean Energy. Click on the relevant section
